Building for over 20 years

1 / 1

Preston K. Tyler has lived in the Roanoke Valley for the past 20 years and has been a city resident for the past 12. He has pastored for 14 years and is currently the Pastor of the Hill Street Baptist Church.  Prior to coming to Hill Street Baptist Church, in 2019, he was honored as Pastor of the Year from the Virginia Baptist State Convention where he has served as youth director and currently serves as statistician. He has been a pillar in the community serving in various leadership roles. Preston is the former President of the Baptist Ministers Conference of Roanoke, Salem, Vinton, and vicinity. He is also the former President of the Baptist Ministers Conference of the Alleghany Highlands where he brought 12 churches together to form one big area-wide revival (spring & fall). He is a former Board Member for TAP (Alleghany Highlands) and along with all that he does for his beloved Hill Street Baptist Church family, he currently serves as a member of the SCLC, Bridge Builders, Valley Baptist Association, and Kiwanis Club.

In these unprecedented times during COVID, in 2021, Preston brought together a city-wide revival.  It was the first in many years to the city of Roanoke and was much needed during this time of healing.

Preston is a native of Charlottesville, Virginia, and a product of the Charlottesville Public Schools. As the son of a Police Officer, he knows the value of communicating to the public.  Additionally, 7 of his 25 years with Kroger, he served as a union representative for UFCW Local 400 in which he negotiated contracts and helped organize several Kroger stores into unionized stores in the Richmond/ Hampton Roads area. He’s a servant leader who not just understands the needs of the community but acts and leads by example.
